A complete take on ‘Poornadani’
Jitendra MS and Ravi K are the music composers for this album. Launched under the aegis of Sampoorna Art Factory (http://www.somepoornaartfactory.com) of which these young people from the corporate world (kudos to them for taking time out to pursue the fine arts and spread the radiance of the same) are active members , this album has a set of lilting numbers. Let’s put them under the musicoscope.
Firstly, it is ‘Ee jeevana’ sung by Jitendra himself. The tune is pleasant and soothing, slow at times picking up jus the right tempo for assertive lyrics and being adequately laid back for the rest of the time. However, the recording could have been more refined with the echo effects reduced and the instruments getting their share of ear-space….they are hardly audible in some parts of the songs where the singers’ voices seem to drown them out. However, considering the fact that these people are new to the arena and this is just their first album, one can overlook these points and heartily congratulate them for coming up with passionate rendition and beautiful composition. Also, for first timers, the ideas of multi-pitching, garnishing with appropriate dialogues in between and spirited chorusing, deserve an applause.
Next song is ‘Madhurada Dani’. Sung again by Jitendra. Starting off with the plucking of guitar strings and mild beats, this track has Jitendra crooning in an engrossing manner. The minimalist instruments seem to help the cause. It’s a slow number , the kind u would want to soothe your ears to after a hard and bad day at work! ( Now we know why God made artistes. To help ppl unwind from their busy careers and get refreshed and then report with a smiling face to the boss the next day to continue those careers which are helping the world run! ). Madhurada dani??!!
‘Musuku Thumbide’ is sung by Balaji T.S. The tune is mediocre except for some engaging aalaap in between. The song starts with a strange rendition but normalises soon after. Percussion is worth noting here. The singer has a good range. On the whole,an average one.
Jitendra again gives the vocals for ‘Ravige Hongiranavu’. A soulful retreat. Lovely tune. Singing and instrumentals could have done with more power packed in though. The composers are definitely promising.
‘Sadaa’ is in the voice of Jitendra and keeping with the feel of the other songs, it is melodious and enjoyable. A new tune that pleases the music enthusiast who keeps track of what’s new and fresh in the endless number of CDs and DVDs flooding the stores.
‘Swara ganita’ is a purely instrumental piece and a thrilling one at that, especially for people like me who get enraptured with the amazing sounds a variety of instruments can produce and who can listen to music non-stop even if it has absolutely no lyrics complementing it! The team seems to enjoy the process of making this number, to the max ,which is evident in the spirited percussion and elegant notes chasing each other, made possible by their admirable synergy. But again recording conditions leave much to be desired.
Finally, it is Balaji TS who sings ‘Thelaaduva’. The composition deserves a word of praise for the efforts but there seem to be hitches in certain places which happened perhaps during the recording. Singing could definitely be better. The actual sound of birds in between brings forth the intended beauty of the song.
That wraps up ‘Poornadani. The effect the instruments must create should have been focussed upon a wee bit more especially with regard to the recording conditions. But considering that its their first launch, Girmit cannot help congratulating Team SAF for having done a great job as far as composition is concerned. And full marks to the spirit of the album. The guys just get the message across!!
