Will Birugaali sweep u off ur feet??!

Gear up for some really breezy songs in ‘Birugaali’. And the musical windmill is powered by Arjun who has left ‘researchers’ pretty pleased with this new source of (alternate) energy! Though it is still at times,the windmill has moved enough to announce a Birugaalic arrival !

‘Machchi Sachchi’ sung by Shankar Mahadevan is a fast number which u will not feel like listening repeatedly.The tune is very commonplace and the instrumentals dont endear either. Shankar is full of energy. The singer,who is most loved by his fans for his rendition of ‘Maa’ from Taare Zameen Par is effervescent and enthusiastic to give a good performance in this piece too n he does justice to the composer’s intentions.

While a whole host of new generation,female singers (Monali,Aishwarya Majmudar,Gayatri n many,many more) are taking the film industry by storm,Shreya Ghoshal continues to be the undisputed favourite,the ‘songstress of India’ as Kunal Ganjawala aptly calls her! Music directors arent yet prepared to let Shreya relax! Havin established herself at an early age and earned a phenomenal fan following,she’s the safest bet for melodious songs!

Well,before i end up writin a novel on this wonderful gift to the music world,lemme comment about her rendition of ‘Hoovina Baanadante’. I will just ask Shreya to take a bow cos thats wat people are asked to do when they are perfect! Melodious,sweet and so damn adaptable ( even to languages she doesnt understand a word of), Shreya’s voice is India’s pride n a blessing to the fraternity of mankind.God bless this diva… We wish u sing for centuries to come!

Arjun’s music is commendable in this piece. The aalap interrupts frequently and steals the show entirely. Shreya captures the right tempo (now when doesnt she??!!) . All in all, a wonderful track.

‘Helbide helbide’ sung by Arjun himself with English lyrics in parts is rock music. If u are a rock fan,u’ll find yourself enjoyin the drums more than anything else in this song. Arjun adopts a different style of pronunciation ,the kind which gives an accent to Kannada thus tickling the listeners!

Arjun again does the vocals in ‘Amma amma’. Rhythmed at an approprately slow pace with the lovable,laid back instrumentals of the 80s genre of songs, this number is worth listening to. Arjun is excellent.Generating subtle notes at the right places,he fills the song with expressiveness. His voice deserves more songs.

Mohith and Shamita Malnad have sung ‘Madhura Pisumaatige’. Shamita’s voice has husky overtones that add elegance and freshness to her singing. Yet another talented crooner.India should be called ‘the land of a thousand (yeah,that’s an understatement!) singers’! Mohith’s voice can afford to be more assertive but should be noted for adhering well to the notes. The music itself is a selling factor what with Kannada music lovers being treated to and asking for more and more refreshing tunes these days. Good one.

‘Jojo Laali’ by Chitra K.S is another piece worth mentioning. Chitra,the singing legend n Padmashree awardee, is the kind who is irreplaceable for some kind of songs. Cool and peaceful, this song personifies the saying that music is a stress-buster and lets ur nerves unwind. Nice music and of course,awesome singing by Chitra.

Vijay Prakash renders the vocals in ‘Idu nanna kathe’. He is awesome,sings with the right voice moderation.The tune isnt very catchy. However,the melancholy seems appropriate for the theme. Good composition.

‘Birugaali theme’ has the background of the title and Arjun’s voice. That it was required for the film is anybody’s guess.

So that was the ‘Birugaali’ which could well sweep u off your feet for certain strokes of musical mastery. Arjun has delighted with some numbers and lets hope he powers the windmill more often!
