‘Nannavanu’ nimmagagi….music review,folks!

Yes ppl, this flick is titled ‘Nannavanu’, starring Prajwal Raj and Andritha Ray. And it has none other than the great maestro Ilayaraja composing the music. If u feel that as far as music is concerned,Ilayaraja is nimmavanu, then u wud’nt miss checking this album out! So here’s Webvani helping u do that.

Firstly,let’s examine ’Muthuthara Muthamma’. Sung by the  music director ,King of Laya, Ilayaraja  himself and Bela. The start gives rise to some expectations which fall soon after. A very mediocre tune. Immense weightage is given to the feel and sound of the words and interspersing music is something u can look out for. Overall, an average song which u wudnt remember much.

Next is ‘Denna Dennana’ , the vocals for which are given by Vijay Yesudas. Again, this track is just ok. Vijay puts enthusiasm into his rendition but the song fails to impress except for the ending of the stanzas where ur attention is caught by the rising tempo.

‘Hey Maamu’ by Karthik,Tippu and Yesudas. One wud expect this to be a total tapori kinda song but it isnt so! The USP of this song is multipe male voices singing simultaneously at different pitches. It sounds good. Insturmentals dont endear much.

‘Devadi Deva’ has been sung in the golden voice of S.P.Balasubramanium.It’s amazing how he can make his voice take on the extremes of  powerful and subtle singing with the same expertise.This song showcases this trait in bountiful terms. If u are fond of semi-classical music, u wudnt listen to this song only once. Beautifully composed and an awe-inspiring rendition together make this one of the few songs to look out for in the spate of latest releases.

Moving on ,Ilayaraja and Bela sing ‘Shivahom’. Another devotional number.As it starts , u hear heavy temple drums and instrumentals and it gives u the feel of attending a huge temple festival with thousands of people celebrating en masse! What can music not do !! The music here is not out-of-the-box but  has  a whole host of shades and sounds to keep u hooked till the end .

‘Enidu enidu’ by Sriram and Bela is next. Let’s see what it is ! The beat that plays on in the background throughout the song is worth noting. Such beats are usually used for more peppy numbers.But experimentation has paid off here and we find this beat getting along well with the singers’  light rendition. Singers are both honey-throated. Sriram could have put in more energy though.

Lastly, we have ‘Modalane Baari’ by SPB and Bela is a cool,laid-back song with minimum instrumentals serving their purpose well. Music is enjoyable…..one of those songs u wud include in ur list if u like melodious,sweet songs that soothe ur ears. Though the tune is  not of very new kind,the track is moderately paced and aptly  sung and it seems to be the best in this album.

With that, we shall sign off for now. Maybe fans would ve expected more from Ilayaraja but ve to settle with this for now.So long !
